Transparency Code for smaller authorities

The Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 sets out a new framework for local public authorities which are currently covered by the Audit Commission regime.  Smaller authorities, such as Thompson Parish Council, that have a turnover of less than £25,000 per annum  are subject to new transparency requirements which are laid out in the above mentioned code which is produced by the Department for Communites and Local Government..

To see the code in full follow the instruction found by clicking on the following link:

 Transparency code for smaller authorities

Subject to Parliamentary approval Regulations come into force requiring compliance with the Transparency Code for Smaller authorities by the end of March 2015 and publication of the first annual set of data by 01 July 2015 and there after on an annual basis by 01 July of each following year.  Some data such as draft minutes of meetings and agenda will be published more frequently.  In the case of minutes of meetings this must be within 30 days of the meeting and for agenda at least 3 working days before the meeting.

Data can be accessed by following the relevant links below but it is worth remembering that data is mainly published retrospectively so that most data for any given year will not be published until about or just before 01 July following the end of that financial year.
